"Kitsuneno-Botan" plants are in bloom along the back road. They are perennial plants in the Ranunculaceae family and thrive in moist places. Their Japanese name comes from the resemblance of their leaves to those of  the "Botan" plants. A closely related species "Ke-Kitsuneno-Botan" looks very similar, but the two can be distinguished by the presence of hairs on the stem and by the shape of their leaf lobes.
