クヌギ林の林床でキジムシロが咲いています。草地や明るい林床に生えるバラ科の多年草です。不二聖心では2月中から咲き始めます。和名は、花の後に放射状に広がる葉を、雉（きじ）が休む筵（むしろ：わらなどを編んで作った敷物）に例えたものです。

聖心坂でヒメウズが咲いています。道端などに生えるキンポウゲ科の多年草です。和名のウズはトリカブトを意味し、葉や果実がトリカブトに似ていていることに由来します。



"Hime-Uzu" plants are in bloom along the "Seishin Zaka." They are perennial plants in the Ranunculaceae family that are commonly found growing along roadsides. The name "Uzu" refers to a plant called "Torikabuto," as the leaves and fruits of “Hime-Uzu” resemble those of that plant.

聖心坂の斜面にタチシノブが見られます。イノモトソウ科の常緑のシダ植物です。日当たりの良い石垣や林縁などによく見られます。葉身は4段階に細かく枝分かれしている、４回羽状複葉です。

"Tachishinobu" ferns are growing on the slope along "Seishin Zaka." They are evergreen ferns in the Dennstaedtiaceae family and are commonly found on sunny stone walls and at forest edges. Their leaves are finely divided and are quadripinnata.

ヒノキ林の林床などでオニカナワラビが見られます。オシダ科の常緑性のシダ植物です。葉は硬く光沢があります。似た仲間が多く、雑種も作りやすいため見分けるのが難しい種です。


 

"Oni-Kanawarabi" ferns are growing in the Japanese cypress woodland. They are evergreen ferns in the Dryopteridaceae family. Their fronds are thick and glossy. There are many similar species and they hybridize easily, so it's difficult to identify them.

 ナツミカンの実がなっています。果実は晩秋から黄色く色づきますが、まだ酸味が強いのでこのまま初夏まで待ってから収穫します。たくさん実をつける表年と少ない裏年を交互に繰り返す性質があると言われますが、今年は表年のようです。

A "Natsu-Mikan" tree is now bearing fruits. Their fruit starts to turn yellow in late fall, but it remains too sour at that time, so we wait until early summer to harvest it. The tree has on-years, when it produces a large amount of fruit, and off-years, when production is low. These alternate from year to year. This year appears to be an on-year.
